Jazz at The Cafe!

The Jazz Festival kicks all day Friday in downtown Warren. If it rains, we’ll host a jazz ensemble from 12-2 and then our 7 piece Big Band Friday evening from 8-11 pm. It’s Joe’s send-off performance and he promises to go out on a high note! You may also catch the wonderful trombone color commentary of the legendary Pete Pepke – celebrating his 40th year as the inventor of the kazoo trombone mute!

Southern Tier Tripel - On Tap!


Don't let the tripel's light color and delicate aroma fool you, this is one serious beer brewed with maximum effort. First, they introduce the freshest barley to crystal filtered water. Second, they add the best hops shipped direct from Europe. Third, their special yeast is the catalyst for the fermentation, gobbling the sugar and creating alcohol as it works. Some say that the Belgian monks who first brewed this style called it tripel to denote its high alcohol content. Still others believe the tripel's origins lay in its triple fermentation; twice in the brewery and once in the bottle. Whatever the answer, it's the tripel threat, and its available on draft at Forte! It's three times whatever you were thinking.

The Fortini!


The creation of our cocktail has come to a spectacular and dizzying conclusion! The Fortini is a wonderful little concoction of chambourd, grand marnier, fruit juices and champagne. Fruity yet dry and pale red, there are plenty bubbles to tickle your nose! Stop in during Friday Happy Hour for the unveiling of the new cocktail menu and the swinging start to a great weekend! Mother's Day

This Sunday, The Cafe will be serving brunch from 11am-2pm and Forte will serve 11am-7pm.
All favorites for my Mom will be on the menu. From eggs benedict, strawberry omelets, ciabatta french toast to roasted turkey with cranberry stuffing and glazed ham will be cookin'!
The reservation book is starting to fill up so make your plans for brunch (and then a nap) early!

Chili Changes!

The weather has inspired my Black Bean Chili again! Except this time, I'm using the trimming from our Filet Mignon instead of regular ol' ground beef. I use our house seasoning blend (sazon) and I will share the complete recipe to those who ask. Topped with sour cream and fresh local scallions, it is some very memorable stuff!

Mojitos!

With the reemergence of sunshine - Monday excused from this post - we annually celebrate with the Mojito! This rum based concoction was one of Hemingway's favorite libations probably brought on by his proximity to rum sources, lime groves and plenty of sunshine.
